Top professionals develop valuable raw materials from recycled plastic

We focus heavily on the development of sophisticated recycled and waste-based raw materials. To boost these efforts, Syklo acquired development company Elastopoli this past autumn. Our top professionals are dedicated to the development of biocomposite production and related technology.

Exceptional technical features

Syklo’s biocomposite is manufactured from raw materials processed from recycled plastics and fibres. Biocomposite is used in e.g. furniture, home electronics, the automotive industry and applications requiring improved tensile and flexural strength and impact resistance.

“Materials like biocomposite prove that waste is not just waste but a potentially high-value raw material. The end products utilising biocomposite are of high quality,” says Syklo’s Managing Director Teemu Koskela.

Patented technology based on wet-press method

Elastopoli is a company specialised in biocomposite research, development and piloting, with a pilot line operating in Sastamala, Finland. The company’s top professionals are dedicated to developing biocomposite production and related technology.

“They employ their own patents and solutions. With this acquisition, we want to further refine plastic pellets, the end product of Syklo’s plastic recycling plant, to push the product higher in the value chain,” Koskela says.

The operations at the Sastamala pilot line will be extended and developed further with the acquisition. According to Koskela, the Elastopoli acquisition aligns with Syklo’s strategy where Syklo strives to find more valuable applications for various recycled and waste-based raw materials.

“This technology helps us penetrate the international market and deliver biocomposite to international customers.”
